Birla Institute of Technology and Science Aptitude Test (BITSAT) is a three hour exam conducted to assess students in mathematics, chemistry, physics, logical reasoning and English proficiency.
Basing on the NCERT syllabus, all questions are of objective-type/multiple choice questions (MCQs).To attempt the science section i.e. the part of physics, chemistry, and mathematics students must prepare themselves with the syllabi of Class XI and Class XII. Candidates having sound knowledge of basics will score well in the exam. A good preparation for class XII exams will help a student to score high in BITSAT.
The English proficiency test is designed to assess the basic grammar of the test takers including their ability to read fast and comprehend, their vocabulary, their proficiency in the English language and their ability in applying the elements of effective writing. Increasing one’s vocabulary and practicing a lot of reading comprehensions will certainly help in this section.
To judge the test takers’ reasoning power in verbal and non-verbal areas, logical reasoning tests are taken. It is important for the candidates to think logically while answering this section in the exam. Acute identification of data, understanding the relationships correctly, finding out the missing numbers or words and applying the rules to new and different contexts are the key areas where every candidate should focus on. Practicing questions related to completing analogies, establishing sequences, classification of words, following directions and detection of missing links will help definitely help you score more in this section.
Three marks for each correct answer and -1 that is negative marking for an incorrect answer. No marks will be allotted for questions not attempted. The candidates are liable to answer 150 questions. Candidates have the option of going back anytime and changing their answers among 150 questions. On BITS website, sample test papers are available, where registered candidates can login anytime and practice as many times they want. Different questions are set for different candidates but the difficulty level and the content will be same for all. It will definitely help to practice as many sample papers as one can.
To become eligible for taking BITSAT, students must have an overall score of 75% in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Math) subjects in their class XII and an individual score of 60% in all the three subjects.
